This is a story about finding your brave - even when the world feels big and scary, and you feel small and unseen. At a busy market, a shy girl discovers her brave in the pages of a special book that calls out to her.
The City of Green Birds
The City of Green Birds is a colourful tale about acceptance and unexpected friendship.
Lauren began developing the story while living in Amsterdam one summer, where she became fascinated by the number of parakeets in the city. Curious about their origins, she asked locals where the birds had come from and was told a series of amusing stories. She began writing them down and illustrating them, which eventually inspired this book.
This project was shortlistedin the World Illustration Awards 2024.
